The Dread Pirate Tydus

The Dread Pirate Tydus

As a young boy he was orphaned, knowing nothing about his original bloodline. His brother Jentar and he had become quick rivals. Their foster parents adopted them. Their mother was a metal crafter specializing in rare exotic armor and masks. Their father was a holy crusader, and champion tournament fighter. He was known for combining the arts of many different martial arts styles, he taught his sons, as much as he could at a very early age. The boys were taught to fight with courage and honor. Their biggest lesson being the survival of the fittest. Battle soon became a part of their lives, nay, a necessity, required, like food. One day when the boys were merely 13 years old. A group of bloodthirsty bandits came into their small town and began massacring it. The boys were forced under the floor boards to bear witness to the murders of their beloved mother and father. With most of the city in ruins and the boys now the only survivors, they burned down their house dug graves and buried their past. They both swore an oath of vengeance they burned the rest of the city to the ground in a penance for not being strong enough to kill the bandits. It was at this point the brothers went their separate ways, go it alone, in hopes of finding the bandit lord that destroyed the only good in their lives. They were destined to face one another on the field of battle someday.

Tydus on his journey joined a monastery where he gained knowledge of navigation, he learned to read and write. However, this was soon also taken from him along with his first love and betrothed. It occurred while he was hunting deer. Finding the mark of the bandit lord (a carved X with an underline on the spine) upon his dead wife, he is said to have gone mad with rage, his inner soul like a raging wild fire. There would be no piece of mind for him nothing could cure the pain he felt. He quickly began tracking the prints of his enemy until being ambushed by a large group of bandits. He was merely a stupid kid rushing into battle with blind rage. He wasn’t going to make it against the numbers of the bandits. He killed as many as his body would let him utilizing all his father had taught him. However he fell, now at seventeen, a prisoner being held at the mercy of the bandit lord. Starring him in the face he could find no words, questioned and beaten, he could say nothing. He could only look at him with eyes dead to emotion. No hope, no faith, everything in life taken from him, living only to kill the man standing before him. Then a man emerged from the shadows with a blue and white feathered hat holding a large bag. Being confronted the bandit lord left the area to talk with him. Tydus awoke the next morning on a ship with iron cuffs on him. Tydus was sold as a peasant to the life at sea. The man in the hat was Captain Wolf. Tydus, grateful for saving him, revealed a small portion of his potential to the good captain and swore an oath of loyalty asking only one thing in return, the bandits head. Impressed the Captain promoted him freeing him of irons. The Captain even gave him back his worldly possessions, his curved scimitar and silver mask. To this day Tydus searches for two things, his brother Jentar and the bandit lord.
